The theme is of great relevance, bearing in mind that democracy is realized, together with other acts, with the possibility of choosing the political representatives of the nation, and voting represents an important act of citizenship. However, these elements can be negatively impacted due to the dissemination of false or uninformative news about candidates for the election or even the electoral process, jeopardizing the fairness of the results obtained in a democratic way. It is common that with the advancement of the digital environment and the insertion of the internet in people’s daily lives, the spread of untruths or false information is increasingly frequent, especially during elections, which is a period of great involvement and mobilization of the country’s citizens, however, it is not possible that these facts harm the exercise of such an important act for the realization of popular sovereignty.
